Destiny

Recently I came across a clip of Fantasia singing "I Believe" at the 2005 NAACP Image Awards. During her performance the camera cuts away to the audience to Barack Obama viewing the star.

Do you see the connection? This man who in 2005 wasn't even thinking of becoming president, yet "I Believe" "We Can" was already conceived in the womb(Earth)and though a long pregnancy time it was, On Nov, 4th 2008 it was birthed.

Watch the video and listen to the words.

Welcome Mr. & Mrs. Barack Obama

It is truly a moment to take in. Today is the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America. The man who will take that position is Barack H. Obama.

My expectation of him, is that he will make decisions that are wise and discerning. My hope for him and his family is safety, peace, love and patience.

I am thankful for the "new" image that Michelle Obama helps establish of the black woman.

I am thankful for the beauty and spirit of Malia and Sasha.

God Bless the Obama family.

Imagine More for 2009

I had dinner with friends to celebrate the new year. My friend passed out to each person at the table little pieces of paper with something typed on it. I selected one, and on it was "Imagine more."

So that is part of my mandate for 2009. Imagine more than what you think you could ever achieve or what you think you could ever receive. I am certainly in expectation.

The Bible says "Now unto Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think (imagine) according to the power that works in us."

What's your mandate for 2009? Never mind a resolution.

Releasing Anger and Bitterness

I have had some interesting responses from three friends concerning my last post. One distant friend implied that I was being selfish and had ego. That this experience was for him, to teach him something. I thought to myself, "What? To perfect lying?"

None the less, as I was reading my guidebook this morning I came across a section on bitterness.

"Suffering does not automatically make a person stronger or better. The way you respond to suffering determines whether that hurt makes you better or bitter."
- The Woman's Study Bible (Nelson)

So I have made a choice to accept that I am disappointed, acknowledge the hurt and to forgive him. Also to forgive myself. Because I am so hard on myself. Today is a new day, and I am determined to have joy and not let it be taken from me.

Blinded by Your Own Wants and Desires

I have a confession-- I have been untrue to myself. The last four months I was so caught up in making a relationship happen that I neglected myself. I didn't listen to the Holy Spirit when he spoke (ever so gently, because He is a gentleman). The result of not listening has caused some pain.

I was deceived. Yet, there were warning signs that I didn't pay attention to. I feel like I have been here before, this place called hurt by a failed attempt at a relationship. Maybe I had to repeat it because I didn't learn the lesson many years ago.

If I sit still too long I begin to go over all the words he spoke, the actions he took and I get angry and sad, because the bottom line is, he lied to me. Does it make sense to say the lie hurts more than the deception? Or are they one in the same?

A man of integrity, I need to find out what that looks like. because maybe if I can see what he looks like, I'll have hope. So my heart won't get hardened and my speech won't be bitter.

This is not a diary of a mad black women, but I must admit thoughts of causing pain have crossed my mind. Then I remember God is my justifier.

Defined by thefreedictionary.com as

n. 1. One who justifies; one who vindicates, supports, defends, or absolves.
- Strype.
That he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
- Rom. iii. 26.

Patience is Love

Recently I went on my first date in a long time. As I was getting to know the guy, I asked him a question about his relationship with his mother. Believing what was told to me as a young girl, that the kind of relationship a man has with his mother will tell you a lot about him. So he told me that their relationship has gotten better. He doesn't think his mom was ready for kids. I asked why he thinks this and he responded because whenever he asks her to show him how she prepared a meal or the ingredients she uses her patience is short. To him patience is an act of love.

For whatever reason this stayed with me. Having patience with someone is a sign of love. After all, the Bible says, "Love suffers long and is kind." I don't think this guy and me have a future together but he did reaffirm for me what patience is. Especially when dealing with clients, family, friends and strangers. If I love it will manifest itself as patience, kindness, gentleness, compassion and understanding.

I am in a new season of my life where I am open to having a guy in my life. The process of meeting a guy and getting to know him is a little unnerving. But patience is screaming for me to take it slowly and walk through it prayfully. Not to get ahead of the Spirit but let the Spirit be ahead of me.

New Year declaration

For this 2008 year, it is my desire to love deeply and without conditions. It is my desire to do more to impact positive change. It is my desire to become more intimate with God. It is my desire to press forward without the restraints of fear. It is my desire to be true to me and you.
